The Edwin Jagger manufacturing company may be less than forty years old, but its story has been centuries in the making. Tracing its roots back to the Sheffield cutlery industry, the brand's history is deeply rooted in the city's rich heritage.

Beginning in 1794, records of the Sheffield cutlery industry document the forging of knife blades using power from five of the city's seven rivers. This marked the start of a legacy that would continue to evolve over the centuries.

In 1912, Sheffield native Harry Brearley's discovery of Stainless Steel at the Brown Firth Laboratories proved to be a significant advancement for the industry. This paved the way for the creation of innovative and durable shaving products.

Years of experience in the Sheffield cutlery industry inspired Neil Jagger to create the first Edwin Jagger razor in 1988. This marked the beginning of the brand's journey into the world of premium shaving.

As demand and customer interest grew, Edwin Jagger introduced its first shaving brush in 1990, providing the perfect accompaniment to the handmade razors. The brand then moved to a dedicated workshop in the Sheffield cutlery quarter in 1992, employing skilled artisan craftsmen to assist in production.

Inspired by razors of the 1930s, the Chatsworth Collection, the brand's longest-running range, was introduced in 1996. This was followed by the opening of the new Edwin Jagger factory in the heart of Sheffield's historical manufacturing district in 1997.

The arrival of new CNC computer-controlled turning machines in 2000 allowed Edwin Jagger to produce more sleek and modern designs. In 2007, the brand introduced its expertly formulated range of soaps and creams, providing users with an incredible post-shave feeling.

The first Edwin Jagger DE safety razor was launched in 2008, with each razor bearing the DE8 designation to honor the release of the single-blade range. In 2017, Edwin Jagger was appointed as one of only three Gillette Trusted Partners in the world, certifying the parts used are genuine.

The pinnacle of Edwin Jagger's shaving instruments, the 3ONE6 stainless steel razors, were introduced in 2019, crafted in the UK's 'Steel City.' In 2020, the brand replaced animal hair with synthetic fibers in the majority of its shaving brushes, offering a sustainable alternative to badger hair.
