The MÜHLE Shaving Journey: A Legacy of Excellence
MÜHLE's story began in 1945, when Otto Johannes Müller founded the business after returning from the war. He crafted the first shaving brushes and designed the iconic MÜHLE signet. In 1965, Hans-Jürgen Müller took over the company, which had grown to 40 employees and was exporting products to 36 countries. However, in 1972, under pressure from the German Democratic Republic, Hans-Jürgen Müller was forced to sell the company, and MÜHLE became a state-owned enterprise. In 1987, the business was rebranded, and Hans-Jürgen Müller became a self-employed brush maker.
The tide turned in 1990 when a new Europe emerged, and Hans-Jürgen Müller regained the family business, trading as Hans-Jürgen Müller KG, with the MÜHLE signet remaining. The post-reunification period was challenging, but MÜHLE gradually won new customers and rehired former employees, celebrating its 50th anniversary in 1995.
The new millennium ushered in a boom for MÜHLE, as the company expanded its offering to a full range of wet shaving goods, with the MÜHLE brand taking center stage. In 2021, MÜHLE launched the first safety razor designed with the needs of all users in mind, regardless of gender.
MÜHLE's Shaving Culture: Craftsmanship and Innovation
For over 75 years, MÜHLE has designed, developed, and manufactured the finest quality shaving products from its family-owned premises in historic Saxony, northern Germany. The company's skilled workforce has handcrafted the best wet shaving tools for discerning gentlemen who demand the ultimate experience.
The MÜHLE Shaving Culture is committed to maintaining the high standards, dedication, and pioneering developments of the past, while continuing to educate on the ritual of the perfect wet shave. Customers can choose from a variety of razor designs and shaving styles, including Gillette Mach3 and Fusion multi-blade razors, as well as double-edge safety razors.
The Shaving Brush: The Centerpiece of Wet Shaving
For the most comfortable wet shave, MÜHLE recommends using a shaving brush to soften the beard and prepare it for shaving. MÜHLE offers a wide range of ergonomic brush handles in both traditional and modern designs, with a choice of natural badger hair or synthetic fibers.
Caring for Your Shaving Tools
To ensure the longevity of your razor and shaving brush, MÜHLE offers a range of stylish chrome-plated shaving stands. These stands allow you to rinse your razor clean after each shave and hang your shaving brush upside-down to dry.
Sustainability and Quality
MÜHLE is committed to sustainability and works with suppliers who uphold the same high standards. The company's products are completely plastic-free and do not use disposable cartridges. MÜHLE's actions are driven by an affinity with nature and a desire for the very highest quality, as expert know-how and pioneering spirit flow into every handcrafted or serially produced item.
